Pansit Guisado is one of the popular dishes in the Philippines and commonly serve as afternoon snack or mirienda. Sometimes, my aunt cook this for breakfast. Although this is already a carb type of dish, it is commonly partnered with buns or tasty or pandesal if serve in the morning. Is it just me who grew up eating pansit guisado? I wonder if others do the same. 🙂

Ingredients

  • 400 grams round miki or egg noddles
  • ½ head of cabbage, cut into strips
  • 10 pcs baguio beans, cut into strips
  • 1 large carrot, cut into strips
  • 200 grams shrimp, separate the head from the body
  • 200 grams pork
  • 1 large onion
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp pepper

Procedure

1. Boil the shrimp head. Press the head gently to extract the flavor. Drain and set aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan and stir fry the pork until brown. Then, saute the garlic and onion.
3. Add the shrimp stock, season with soy sauce and pepper.
4. Bring to boil and add the miki. Stir for 1 min. Immediately add the beans, cabbage, carrots and shrimp. Stir for another 3 mins or until shrimp and vegetable are fully cooked.
