Tofu in Oyster Sauce
We will be cooking a protein rich dish - tofu with kangkong in oyster sauce. If you need a break from eating meat, this dish is for you.
- 300 grams Tofu
- 1 bunch Spinach
- 4 cloves garlic
- ½ inch ginger minced
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp Pepper
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch dissolve in water
Prepare the ingredients. Dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of water and set aside. Then, Cut the tofu in rectangular bite size shape.
Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu in medium to high heat for 4-5 mins or until crispy. Be careful, this will produce a lot of oil splatter because tofu is packed with moisture.
Once done, place in a paper towel to remove excess oil. Set aside for a while.
Reduce the oil in the pan. Using medium heat, saute the garlic and ginger. Add the kangkong and Give it a few stir then add the oyster sauce, soy sauce. Give it a quick stir then add around 50mL of water. Mix it up then add the sugar and pepper.
Once boiling, gradually add the cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Stir and Simmer for around 30 seconds. Lastly, add the tofu. Mix it up until the tofu is fully covered with the sauce.
And it done! this saucy dish is best eaten with rice. Serve immediately before the tofu gets soggy. Enjoy!
