Cheese Puto is a variation of make a common Filipino snack Puto This is an easy to make rice cake topped with cheese  definitely a snack that your family will love and enjoy.

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 100 mL of evaporated milk
  • 1 pc egg
  • 60 mL of water
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/4 block cheese


combining the dry ingredients

  1. In a mixing bowl, sieve 1 cup of all purpose flour
  2. and 1 tbsp of baking power
  3. Then Add 1/3 cup of sugar
  4. Add 100mL of evaporated milk
  5. and 1 egg
  6. Mix well until the batter is smooth
  7. Add 60mL of water
  8. and 1tbsp of melted butter
  9. Mix well until well blended
  10. Add 1/4 block of grated cheese
  11. Then fold the the mixture until the cheese is fully incorporated

Filling the Mold

  1. The next step is to Grease the mold with butter
  2. then fill each mold with 3tbsp of puto mixture
  3. Now were going the steam our puto in medium heat
  4. Cover and Steam for 10 mins
  5. Check if the puto is fully cooked by inserting a toothpick or fork. It is fully cooked if the fork comes out dry and does not have any wet batter
  6. Then topped with strips of cheese
  7. And steam for another 2 mins until the cheese melts

Recipe Notes


Wrap the cover with clean towel or any cotton material so the steam will not drip in the batter
