How to make Kwek Kwek or Quail Eggs Coated with Batter Famous Filipino Street Food

kwek-kwek by far is one of my favorite street foods. It is boiled quail eggs, coated with orange flour mixture and deep-fried. It is often sold together with fishballs, kikiam and tokneneng . if you are roaming the streets of manila you will never miss this orange(or yellow) glowing balls of happiness Today, I’m going to show you how to cook kwek-kwek.

Ingredients below.

  • 24 pieces quail eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 3/4 cup water
  • orange food color
  • 1/4 cup flour- – for dredging
  • oil – – for frying
