Ingredients

For the Burger Patties

  • 250 grams beef; this is around 20% fat / 80% lean meat
  • 1 medium onion minced as small as possible
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

For the Gravy

  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 cup button mushroom
  • 1 beef cube

Instructions

Crating the Beef Patty

  1. Combine onion, pepper and salt. Mix until the ingredients are well blended.

  2. Then were going to mold this. Just place 3 spoon-full of meat mixture in your hands, make a round shape then flatten it with thickness of around half inch.

  3. Using your thumb, make a dent in the middle of the patty. This technique will prevent the patty from bulging while cooking. 5 Patties can be made from the 250 grams of beef

  4. You can put this first in the freezer for 10 mins; it will help to retain the round shape while cooking.

  5. Once the patties are ready, put some oil in the pan, enough for searing. Carefully place the patty in the pan and just leave it searing for 3-4 mins. This will lock in the juices and flavor. Flip to cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.

  6. Set aside these patties after cooking.

Creating the gravy

  1. Using the same pan, Add a bit of oil then saute the mushroom and add the flour. Give it a mix to cook up the flour.
  2. Then Add 2 cups of water and stir continuously to remove the lumps.
  3. Add the beef cube and continue to stir until it is fully dissolve.
  4. Bring to boil until the sauce thickens. I added a bit of soy sauce to achieve the brown gravy color. Finish the gravy with a dash of pepper.
