In this video we will show you how to make a leche flan under 30 pesos. Leche Flan is one of the favorite filipipno desserts, it is made of a sweet custard with egg as a flan.

 

 

Powdered Milk Leche Flan

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 250 mL Water
  • 2 pcs eggs
  • 1 pcs calamansi peel

Instructions

Preparing the Caramel

  1. Place 2 tbsp of sugar in the mold
  2. Heat the llanera mold in the stove top using low to medium heat
  3. The sugar will eventually melt and turns into a caramel

Make the Mixture

  1. We will need 1 cup of powdered milk, 6 tbsp of sugar and 250mL of water
  2. Mix well until the sugar is fully dissolved
  3. Then add 2 eggs

  4. Mix again until smooth
  5. Add some calamansi peel
  6. Then sieve for 3-4 times to remove the bubbles
  7. Transfer the flan mixture into the mold we have prepared a while ago
  8. Cover with foil and tighten with rubber band

Cooking with the steamer

  1. To achieve a smooth leche flan, I learned that it should be steamed in low heat
  2. Before I put the leche I adjusted first the heat to low and let the water stabilize for 2 mins

  3. Steam for  around 30 mins

  4. You can check if the leche flan is cooked by inserting a toothpick or a fork.
  5. If the fork comes out clean then the flan is cooked
  6. chill in the fridge for 3 hours
